Below are many common questions. While here, you will get transparency. It may not be what you want to hear, but it will be the truth. We won't try to sell you on something you don't need, just so we can take your money. We give our opinions, options and let you decide what you want to do. After all, it's your party!
I started my DJ career in 2005 under the name "Now then DJ service", took a 2 year break and am back at it again with a new name! Hence the name "Play it again DJ"
Many reasons. 1: I work for myself, so I don't need to pay employees. If I bring someone to help me, I pay them from my pocket, not yours. 2: I try to keep my overhead low. I don't have a fancy office or answering service to pay for. I do all of my own stunts! 3: This is a passionate hobby of mine. Some DJs do this strictly to pay their bills, therefore charging more. And that's okay. But because I'm passionate about it, I don't see this as "a job" 4: I know weddings are expensive. Many DJs try to convince you to be weary of "you get what you pay for". While that is true, I urge you to not hire a DJ that charges a couple hundred dollars for the event. However, because weddings are expensive, I'm comfortable with what I make, while making you comfortable with what you spend. My job is to entertain you, regardless of what you pay me.
I love taking requests! However, if there is a request that contain inappropriate language or other type of inappropriate innuendo, I consult with the paying client, bride/groom before playing the requested song. If approved, I will announce in advance that a song containing such content will be played, so those that may not be suited to hear it have time to "take a fresh air break". Additionally, if I do not have a song in my library that you want, I do not down load it on site. This is because I want to listen to it first, to make sure it's appropriate, good quality and perfect for you. I encourage the booking client to let me know ahead of time so I can take of those things at home and have them for your day!
I only require a small monetary deposit to secure your date. That deposit guarantees your date and is deducted off the total balance. I do not charge a percent of the total amount.
It's quicker to tell you what they don't include (but would have to pay extra for) and that's a separate set up, overtime, some travel, photo props or additional lighting not quoted. We cover the rest, including ceremony music, cocktail/dinner music, announcements, working closely with your vendors and everything in between. I don't charge for set up or tear down. That's on my own time. Depending on which package you choose, I get there at least an hour before guests arrive. More information is available on my pricing sheet, should you contact me for pricing.
Yes there are! If you are active/retired military veteran or use one of my trusted partners, you receive a discount. Additionally, some DJs charge a lot higher price. So if one DJ charges $2000 for 5 hours and offers a $500 discount, you just saved $500. Which seems great. Now you only pay $1500 for 5 hours. I may still charge less than what you are paying someone else after their discount. Some DJs can offer such a large discount because their prices are much higher to start with. They may offer different things with their service, so be sure to ask what's included in their price!
Just reach out to me and we can set something up that works for us, whether in person or over the phone. I don't charge for a consultation (if travel is a reasonable distance) and am always available to answer questions you might have at any time, even if you're not sure you want to book with me or not. Even if you don't book with me, I still want your event to be perfect for you.
I take cash, card, check, money order or venmo. There is a small fee for card payments due to transaction fees. You can pay in full ahead of time. You can also transfer payment to a different date within one year of the original date. I also offer payment plans. Whatever is easiest for you. Just ask for more details.
I don't. However, for a small fee, I offer photo props that can be used throughout the entire day around the building. This way, you are not confined to only a small booth that fit 3 people. There are so many people that can get in the photo and the photos are unlimited! This is an extremely popular option for all age groups!
Dance floor lights are pointed at the dance floor and depending on the package you choose, are sound activated and have multi-color light patterns. Up lights are lights that are illuminated around the room, away from the dance floor. For example, lights behind the head table to match wedding colors, or along a wall to give more elegant lighting. Even sometimes to help illuminate exits instead of just the color of the walls!
Contact me and I can send you a price list with what we have to offer. I don't offer prices online, in order to remain competitive. Most DJs don't have their pricing online for this very reason. While I am certainly not ashamed of my pricing, you need to get the best service without losing quality.
